Bed making 101

Bed making 101

So, you’ve mastered your bedroom styling, but what about your bedding basics? Let’s create a cosy bed layer by layer to build the foundation of a great night’s sleep!

Step 1: Cloud-like comfort!

To ensure the ultimate level of warmth and comfort, your mattress should include three layers before you even think about adding sheets, blankets, or a quilt!

Mattress Topper: This protective layer will fight off all those little dust mites that can cause allergies while adding a cloud-like cushiness to your bed!

Mattress Protector: Your Protector will keep your mattress looking brand new by absorbing any sweat and germs before they soak through to your mattress.

Underlay: Made from wool, an Underlay will keep your body temperature regulated, so you don’t freeze in winter or get too hot and sweaty in summer.

Step 2: Sheeting

We all love that fresh sheet feeling! But with so many different types of materials and thread counts, choosing a new set can be a little confusing. Here’s the 101 on our favourites so you can pick the best option for you and your budget!

Cotton Sheets: Cotton is a natural fibre that has great durability and breathability. Featuring a 500 thread count, our Cotton Sheets have a soft and silky feel on the skin.

Premium Percale Sheets: Available in various colours, our 250 thread count Premium Percale sheets are a 50/50 blend of polyester and cotton.

Supima Sheets: Supima cotton is a unique type of cotton grown in the USA. It’s an extra-long staple fibre that gives the cotton its premium properties: strength, durability, and softness.

Linen Sheets: While pure linen may feel coarser than the other sheets, the more it is used and washed, the softer it becomes. This type of sheet is ideal for hot sleepers as it absorbs moisture keeping you cool and dry throughout the night.

Flannelette Sheets: Made from soft and lightly brushed cotton, our plain-dyed and printed flannelette sheets offer incredibly cosy warmth when the weather turns cold.

Jersey Sheets: Our Jersey Sheets are renowned for being knitted and not woven like regular sheeting, making them super breathable and extra comfortable!

Sheet Hack: If you feel like your sheets need a bit of softening, add 1 cup of bicarb soda + half a cup of vinegar to your sheet load. Fabric softener creates a coating that builds up over time, trapping stains and odours!

Step 3: Quilt

Quilts

Quilts include various fabrics, weights and materials to suit your individual needs. Take some time to consider which quilt will work best for you, your body and your sleeping patterns, and you’ll be on your way to a dreamy sleep in no time!

Healthy Fibre Quilt: Featuring an antibacterial, antimicrobial and anti-dust mite BioFresh™ treatment, this is the quilt for you if you suffer from asthma or allergies! Featuring 300gsm filling 100% hollow polyester fibres, this quilt will keep you warm in winter and cool in summer.

Wool Quilt: If you find it hard to regulate your body temperature while you sleep, consider grabbing a Wool Quilt. This one is 100% wool and helps to relieve the body of thermal stress.

Thermal Balancing Quilt: Do you suffer insomnia, hot flushes or sweat while you sleep? Our thermal balancing quilt works to absorb, store and release heat as needed, so your body stays at an optimal temperature all night.
